The Fentress County Emergency Management Agency also known as “EMA” has the mission to coordinate emergency management response and recovery, in order to reduce the loss of life and property in Fentress County. Fentress County EMA is empowered by state law to protect the public during disasters and emergencies. When an emergency occurs in Fentress County, the EMA staff will work with many other government agencies to include law enforcement, fire departments, EMS, Rescue Squad, local elected officials and the Ham Radio club to resolve the emergency. The Fentress County EMA has a fully operational emergency operations center, referred to as the “EOC” located within the 911 Dispatch & EMA building. The Fentress County EMA has many tools at its disposal when emergencies occur. Some of these tools include a 16 ft. mobile communications and HAZMAT response trailer and a 100 ft. mobile communications antenna tower. Throughout the year the Fentress County EMA provides a great amount of training to both local first responders and local citizens. Some of this training includes CPR and first aid classes through the American Heart Association and Weather Spotter training through the National Weather Service. Throughout the year the Fentress County EMA works with local emergency services to conduct emergency preparedness drills and exercises to better prepare for when the real event strikes.
