New and Renewal Process
- Complete the Tennessee Notary Application (See the forms library for the application).
- The application will be notarized in the office upon submission. Do not sign before submitting.
- A Notary Bond valued in the amount of $10,000 must be presented at the time of application (please call our office to get the date for your bond).
- Your local insurance agent can issue the notary bond.
Bond
A notary must post a bond for $10,000 by a surety company authorized in Tennessee.
Follow-up
- Following the approval from the County Commission, our office will contact you once the Secretary of State sends the Notary Commission.
Fees
- $19.50 new and renewal application. This fee includes the official recording of the bond.
Additional Information:
- A notary public must furnish their own seal. Embossed notary seals are not accepted.
